The 100 Club of Arizona scholarship program is established to provide financial education assistance to family members of public safety officers/firefighters who have suffered a death or injury and towards further educating and/or improving the quality of life of family members of the eligible class.

Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are currently under
review and scholarships will be awarded by August 1, 2008.

Application Details
Definitions
Family Member: spouse, son, daughter, or stepchild.
Beneficiary: a member of the eligible class who has received, or whose family member has received benefits from the 100 Club of Arizona for a Line of Duty Death (LODD), Line of Duty Injury (LODI), or Non-Line of duty Death (NLODD).
Member of the Eligible Class: as defined by the 100 Club by-laws.
Eligibility
The following persons are eligible to apply for a 100 Club Scholarship:
A beneficiary or immediate family member of a beneficiary
An immediate family member of a member of the eligible class
The 100 Club of Arizona may place restrictions on certain scholarships - restricting the application to one of the above categories, or a subset of one or both of the above categories.
Scholarship types
Scholarships may be awarded for eligible persons wishing to pursue a course of study beyond high school (Scholarships are not awarded for post-graduate study). Eligible programs include but are not limited to:
Accredited colleges and universities
Post secondary trade schools
The following scholarship awards may be offered by the club:
One time awards covering tuition, books, fees and/or housing
Multi year renewable awards covering tuition, books, fees and/or housing
Equipment awards, including but not limited to special accommodation student needs and/or technology equipment.

Application Review Process
The 100 Club will:
Review applications to ensure each applicant meets the minimum standards of the application criteria.
The 100 Club of Arizona may request further information from applicants or invite all or some applicants to an interview.
A list of selected applicants will be reviewed by the 100 Club of Arizona Executive Committee.
Award Process
Chosen applicants will be invited to a scholarship award ceremony.
Whenever possible, scholarship awards shall be made payable directly to the educational facility, or jointly to the recipient and the vendor.
Award Renewals
Scholarship awards that are eligible for renewal shall require documentation from the recipient that the conditions of the award continue to be met before subsequent awards are made.
‘Named’ scholarships
Upon the request of a donor, or upon it’s own action, the club may authorize scholarships to be created in the name/honor of a person (living or deceased) or other entity (business, foundation, corporation, etc.) within the following guidelines:

All proposed named scholarships shall be subject to the review.
The 100 Club of Arizona has the authority to approve, disapprove, or modify all facets of the proposed named scholarship.
Should the Executive committee disapprove the proposal, or the donor does not agree with any modifications made, the donor’s funds will be returned.
Scholarships in the name/honor of a person shall be a minimum of $1,000 for each proposed scholarship year.
Scholarships in the name/honor of an entity shall be a minimum of $5,000 for each proposed scholarship year.
All funds to secure a named scholarship must be paid in advance
(e.g.: a four-year $1,000 annual scholarship would require the donor to submit $4,000 with the request for named scholarship).The 100 Club of Arizona may, but shall not be required to, grant exceptions to this advance funding requirement for the second and subsequent years of multi-year scholarships from entities that will provide a pledge or letter of commitment acceptable to the 100 Club of Arizona.
