Arizona Department of Corrections mourns the loss of former warden

The 100 Club of Arizona offers its condolences to the family of Bob Goldsmith.

Bob Goldsmith joined ADC in 1963 as a “guard” at the Arizona State Prison in Florence. He moved quickly through the ranks to Sergeant in 1964, Lieutenant in 1965, Major in 1973, Deputy Warden in 1980, and Warden in 1986. During Mr. Goldsmith's tenure as Warden, SMU I opened as a unit of the Florence complex in 1987.  

Bob and his wife, Mary Goldsmith, enjoyed 51 years of marriage. They raised three sons, Gary, Chuck and Joseph and welcomed into their lives eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren with two more great grandchildren on the way.

The Goldsmith family has asked in lieu of flowers or other gifts that donations be made to the 100 Club of Arizona, an organization, which has a special significance for them as they lost their son Commander Joseph Allen Goldsmith in 2004.
